The Old Church (Oude Kerk)
The Old Church is the oldest building and parish church of Amsterdam. It was founded around 1213. The church has been a Calvanist church since 1578 and you can find it in the Red Light Disctrict. It started out as a Roman Catholic Church until it was taken over. During the “Beeldenstorm” (1566) all of the art was destroyed except for the ceiling paintings.
